A Bill for an Act to amend the Parliamentary 

Service Act 1999, and for related purposes 

The Parliament of Australia enacts: 

1  Short title 

 

  This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Service Amendment 

Act 2014

2  Commencement 

 

  This Act commences on the day after this Act receives the Royal 

Assent.

  Legislation that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or 

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule 

concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect 

according to its terms.

Schedule 1

--Amendments 

   

Parliamentary Service Act 1999 

1  At the end of subsection 65A(2) 

Add: 

 

; and (d)  either: 

 

(i)  the Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police; or 

 

(ii)  a Deputy Commissioner of the Australian Federal 

Police or a senior executive AFP employee (within the 

meaning of the Australian Federal Police Act 1979

who is nominated by the Presiding Officers in writing.
