The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Social Security Amendment (Income

Support for Regional Students) Act 2010.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on 1 January 2011.

3 Object

The object of this Act is to improve income support for regional

students by extending the youth allowance to eligible students

whose family home is in a location categorised under the

Remoteness Structure as "Inner Regional Australia".

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule
8
concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect
9
according to its terms.
