A Bill for an Act to amend the Telecommunications 

(Industry Levy) Act 2012, and for related purposes 

The Parliament of Australia enacts: 

1  Short title 

 

  This Act may be cited as the Telecommunications (Industry Levy) 

Amendment Act 2014

2  Commencement 

 

(1)  Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table 

commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with 

column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect

according to its terms.

4B  Extension to external Territories 

 

  This Part extends to each external Territory referred to in 

section 10 of the Telecommunications Act 1997

4C  Imposition of levy 

 

  If a person has a levy amount for an eligible levy period because of 

section 50 of the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and 

Service Standards) Act 1999, levy is imposed on that amount. 

4D  Amount of levy

  The amount of a levy that this Part imposes on a levy amount for 

11 

an eligible levy period is equal to that levy amount.

4E  Person liable to pay levy 

13 

 

  Levy imposed by this Part on a person's levy amount for an 

14 

eligible levy period is payable by the person.

4  Sections 5, 6, 7 and 8

Repeal the sections.

5  Transitional

--levy for the 2012-13 financial year or the 

18 

2013-14 financial year 

19 

Despite the repeal of sections 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the 

20 

Telecommunications (Industry Levy) Act 2012 by this Schedule, those 

21 

sections continue in force, in relation to a levy amount for: 

22 

 

(a)  the eligible levy period that began on 1 July 2012; or 

23 

 

(b)  the eligible levy period that began on 1 July 2013; 

24 

as if those repeals had not happened.
