The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Veterans' Entitlements Amendment
8
(Expanded Gold Card Access) Act 2015.

(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table

commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with

column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect

according to its terms.

1 Section 85 (heading)

Repeal the heading, substitute:

85 Veterans and other members eligible to be provided with
6
treatment

2 Before subsection 85(1)

Insert:

Treatment to be provided--members who have served in war or
10
war-like operations
11
(1A) A person is eligible to be provided with treatment under this Part
12
for any injury suffered, or disease contracted, by the person,
13
whether before or after the commencement of this Act, if:
14
(a) the person:
15
(i) is a veteran; or
16
(ii) is, or has been, a member of the Defence Force; or
17
(iii) is, or has been, a member of a Peacekeeping Force (as
18
defined by subsection 68(1)); and
19
(b) the person has, as such a veteran or member, rendered service
20
in war or in war-like operations.

5 Application

The amendments made by this Schedule apply in relation to treatment
4
of a person if:
5
(a) the person is alive on the day this item commences; and
6
(b) the treatment:
7
(i) was provided between 1 August 1947 and the day this
8
item commences; or
9
(ii) is provided on or after the day this item commences.
