THE PARLIAMENT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
COMPREHENSIVE NUCLEAR TEST-BAN TREATY BILL 1998
SUPPLEMENTARY EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
Amendment to be Moved on Behalf of the Government
CLAUSE 69 DELEGATION BY THE MINISTER
Page 41 (lines 4 to 6) of the Bill - the amendment omits the clause which permits the Minister to delegate all or any of his or her powers under the Act to any person. The amendment substitutes a provision which limits the categories of people to whom the Minister's powers may be delegated to the Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Director of the Australian Comprehensive Test Ban Office and Senior Executive Service officers within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
