Commonwealth Consolidated Acts Commonwealth Consolidated Acts(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), the Minister may, after consultation with the Board, give to the Board such written directions in relation to the performance of the SBS's functions as appear to the Minister to be necessary in the public interest.
(2) Subject to subsections (3) and (3A), the Minister may only give a direction in relation to a prescribed matter or in prescribed circumstances.
(3) The Minister must not give a direction in relation to the content or scheduling of programs to be broadcast.
(3A) The Minister must not give a direction in relation to the content to be provided on a digital media service.
(4) Where the Minister gives a direction to the Board, the
Minister must cause a copy of the direction to be laid before each House of
the Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after giving the
direction.
