ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER COMMISSION ACT 1989 No. 150 of 1989 - SECT 47

Period of appointment
47. (1) The Chief Executive Officer holds office for such period as is
specified in the instrument of appointment.

(2) The period that may be specified in the instrument of appointment:

   (a)  shall not be less than 2 years, unless subsection (3) would otherwise
        prevent the appointment of that person; and

   (b)  shall not exceed:

        (i)    for the first Chief Executive Officer-2 years; or

        (ii)   for any other Chief Executive Officer-5 years.

(3) A person who has turned 65 shall not be appointed as the Chief Executive
Officer and a person shall not be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for
a period that extends beyond the day on which the person will turn 65.
