ABORIGINAL LAND RIGHTS (NORTHERN TERRITORY) ACT 1976 No. 191 of 1976 - SECT 52

52. (1) The Commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor-General.

(2) Subject to this Act, the Commissioner holds office for such period, not
exceeding 3 years, as is specified in the instrument of his appointment and on
such terms and conditions as the Governor-General determines, but is eligible
for re-appointment.

(3) A person who has attained the age of 65 years shall not be appointed or
re-appointed as Commissioner, and a person shall not be appointed or
re-appointed as Commissioner for a period that extends beyond the date on
which he will attain the age of 65 years.
