AIR NAVIGATION (CHARGES) AMENDMENT ACT 1976 No. 124 of 1976 - SECT 3

3. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end thereof the
following sub-sections:-

''(2) Where the liability of a person to pay a charge under this Act is not
discharged within 45 days after the day on which that charge became due and
payable, that person is liable to pay to the Commonwealth, by way of penalty,
in addition to the amount of that charge, an amount calculated at the rate of
10 per centum per annum upon the amount of that charge remaining unpaid, to be
computed from the day on which that charge became due and payable.

''(3) The following amounts may be recovered by the Commonwealth as debts due
to the Commonwealth:-

   (a)  a charge that is due and payable under this Act; and

   (b)  an amount payable by way of penalty under sub-section (2).''.
