COMMONWEALTH AUTHORITIES AND COMPANIES ACT 1997 No. 153 of 1997 - SECT 27

27 Insurance premiums for indemnity insurance of officers

(1) A Commonwealth authority or a subsidiary of a Commonwealth authority must
not pay, or agree to pay, a premium on a contract that insures a person who is
or has been an officer of the authority against a liability:

   (a)  incurred by the person as an officer of the authority; and

   (b)  arising out of conduct that involves a contravention of section 23 or
        a wilful breach of duty in relation to the authority.

(2) If subsection (1) is contravened, the contract is void in so far as it
insures the person against such a liability.

(3) Subsections (1) and (2) do not apply to a liability for costs and expenses
incurred by a person in defending civil or criminal proceedings, whatever
their outcome.

(4) Subject to this section, a Commonwealth authority may insure a person who
is or has been an officer against liabilities incurred by the person as an
officer.

(5) In this section:
pay includes pay indirectly through one or more interposed entities.
