Commonwealth Electoral Legislation Amendment Act 1983 No. 144 of 1983 - SECT 98

98. Section 123 of the Principal Act is amended-

   (a)  by omitting from sub-section (1) ''In'' and substituting ''Subject to
        sub-section (1A), in''; and

   (b)  by inserting after sub-section (1) the following sub-sections:

''(1A) A voter may mark his vote on his ballot-paper by placing the figure 1
in a square (if any) printed in accordance with sub-section 106 (5).

''(1B) For the purposes of this Act, where a voter has placed a tick or a
cross in a square printed on a ballot-paper in accordance with sub-section 106
(5), he is deemed to have placed the figure 1 in that square.''.
