FISHING INDUSTRY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 1987 No. 174 of 1987 - SECT 6
Functions
6. The functions of the Council are:
(a) to investigate and evaluate the requirements for
fisheries research and development and, on the basis of such
investigation and evaluation, to prepare research and development
plans under section 22;
(b) to prepare a research and development program under section 23 for
each financial year;
(c) to enter into agreements under section 63 for the carrying out of
fisheries research and development projects;
(d) to approve the payment of money from the Trust Fund;
(e) to monitor, and to report to the Parliament, the Minister and the
Fishing Industry Policy Council of Australia on,
fisheries research and development projects that are funded, in whole
or in part, from the Trust Fund; and
(f) such other functions in relation to the Australian fishing industry as
are conferred on the Council by or under this Act or any other Act.
