HEALTH, HOUSING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 1992 No. 88 of 1992 - SECT 20

20. Section 20 of the Principal Act is amended:

   (a)  by omitting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:

"(1) Subject to section 21, if the Secretary is satisfied that the provision
of a rehabilitation program for a person in the target group would:

   (a)  result in the person having a substantially increased capacity to:

        (i)    obtain or retain paid employment (whether or not the employment
               would be unsupported); or

        (ii)   live independently; and

   (b)  comply with guidelines (if any) formulated undersection 5 that relate
        to this section; the Secretary may, on the Commonwealth's behalf,
        approve the provision of the rehabilitation program for the person,
        together with any follow-up program that the Secretary considers
        necessary or desirable.";

   (b)  by omitting from paragraph (5)(b) "medical services,";

   (c)  by adding at the end of subparagraph (5)(d)(i) "and";

   (d)  by omitting from subparagraph (5)(d)(ii) "and" (second occurring);

   (e)  by omitting subparagraph (5)(d)(iii).
