INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY ACT 1986 No. 101 of 1986 - SECT 26
Terms and conditions of appointment
26. (1) The Inspector-General holds office for such period, not exceeding 3
years, as is specified in the instrument of appointment but, subject to
sub-section (2), is eligible for re-appointment.
(2) A person is not eligible to be appointed to the office of
Inspector-General more than twice.
(3) A person holding office as Inspector-General, other than a person who is a
Judge, holds office on such terms and conditions (if any) in respect of
matters not provided for by this Act as are determined by the
Governor-General.
(4) The Inspector-General may be appointed on a full-time or part-time basis.
(5) A person who has attained the age of 65 years shall not be appointed to
the office of Inspector-General on a full-time basis and a person shall not be
appointed to that office on a full-time basis for a period that extends beyond
the day on which the person will attain the age of 65 years.
