LANDS ACQUISITION ACT 1989 No. 15 of 1989 - SECT 137
How documents are to be given
137. (1) Subject to subsection (2), a document required or permitted by this
Act to be given to the Minister shall be given to the Minister by sending it
by pre-paid post to the Minister at an address prescribed for the purposes of
this subsection.
(2) Where a document required or permitted by this Act to be given to the
Minister relates to land in an external Territory, the document may be given
to the Minister by delivering it to an officer employed in:
(a) the office of the Administrator of the Territory; or
(b) if there is no Administrator in respect of the Territory - such office
as is prescribed.
(3) A document required or permitted by this Act to be given to a person by or
under the authority of the Minister may be given to the person:
(a) if the person is a natural person:
(i) by delivering it to the person personally; or
(ii) by leaving it at, or by sending it by pre-paid post to, the
address of the place of residence or business of the person
last known to the Minister;
(b) if the person is a body corporate - by leaving it at, or sending it by
pre-paid post to, the head office, a registered office or a principal
office of the body corporate; or
(c) in any case where the Minister, after diligent inquiry, is unable to
comply with the requirements of whichever of paragraphs (a) and (b) is
applicable - by affixing the notice or other document in a prominent
position on the land to which the notice relates.
