LOCAL GOVERNMENT (FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) ACT 1986 No. 79, 1986 - SECT 5

5. (1) The Treasurer shall, before 31 August in the year commencing on 1 July
1986 and in the subsequent year, make an estimate of-

   (a)  the factor, being a number calculated to 4 decimal places, to be
        ascertained under sub-section 6 (4) in relation to that year; and

   (b)  the factor, being a number calculated to 4 decimal places, to be
        ascertained under sub-section 6 (5) in relation to that year, and
        shall, before that day, cause to be published in the Gazette a notice
        in writing specifying the greater of those factors.

(2) The Treasurer shall, before 31 August in the year commencing on 1 July
1988 and in each subsequent year, make an estimate of the factor, being a
number calculated to 4 decimal places, to be ascertained under sub-section 6
(5) in relation to that year, and shall, before that day, cause to be
published in the Gazette a notice in writing specifying the factor so
ascertained.

(3) The Treasurer shall cause a copy of a notice published under sub-section
(1) or (2) to be given to the Treasurer of each State.
