Life Insurance Amendment Act 1983 No. 143 of 1983 - SECT 4

4. Section 4A of the Principal Act is amended-

   (a)  by omitting sub-sections (1) and (2) and substituting the following
        sub-section:

''(1) A reference in this Act to an actuary shall, unless the contrary
intention appears, be read as a reference to a person who is ordinarily
resident in Australia and-

   (a)  is a Fellow of The Institute of Actuaries of Australia; or

   (b)  is approved by the Commissioner under sub-section (3).''; and

   (b)  by omitting from sub-section (3) ''a body referred to in paragraph (1)
        (a), (b), (c) or (d)'' and substituting ''The Institute of Actuaries
        of Australia''.
