NAVIGATION AMENDMENT ACT 1980 No. 87, 1980 - SECT 25

25. Section 54 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section
substituted: Agreements and contracts of sea service to be delivered to
proper authority

"54. (1) Subject to sub-section (2), the master of a ship shall, within 48
hours after the arrival of the ship at the port that is the final port of
destin ation mentioned in the ship's agreement or upon the discharge of the
ship's crew, whichever first occurs, deliver the agreement to a proper
authority at a port.



"(2) Sub-section (1) does not apply in relation to the master of a ship if
there is in force between the owner of the ship and each seaman who is a
member of the crew of the ship a contract of sea service.



"(3) Where a contract of sea service is terminated or otherwise ceases to be
in force, the employer shall, within the prescribed time, deliver the contract
to a proper authority at a port.".
