NAVIGATION AMENDMENT ACT 1980 No. 87, 1980 - SECT 61

61. Section 148B of the Principal Act is amended-

(a) by omitting from sub-section (1) "The master" and substituting "Subject to
sub-section (1A), the master";

   (b)  by inserting in sub-section (1) ", or the contract of sea service
        under
which the seaman is serving, as the case requires," after "the articles of
agreement of the ship"; and

   (c)  by inserting after sub-section (1) the following sub-section:



"(1A) Sub-section (1) does not apply in relation to a seaman serving under a
contract of sea service where the seaman is left behind, or is proposed to be
left behind, in accordance with the terms of his contract of sea service.".
