NATIONAL CRIME AUTHORITY ACT 1984 No. 41, 1984 - SECT 37
Terms and conditions of appointment
37. (1) Subject to this Division, a member holds office-
(a) in the case of the first Chairman and the first 2 other members-for
such period, not exceeding 4 years, as is specified in the instrument
of his appointment;
(b) in the case of a member who is appointed after the expiration of one
year after the commencement of this Act-for a period ending at the
expiration of 5 years after that commencement; or
(c) in the case of any other member-for a period of 4 years, and is not
eligible for re-appointment.
(2) Subject to sub-section (3), a person who has attained the age of 65 years
shall not be appointed as a member and a person shall not be appointed as a
member for a period that extends beyond the day on which he will attain the
age of 65 years.
(3) In the case of a person who is, and is expected to continue to be, a
Judge, a reference in sub-section (2) to the age of 65 years shall be
construed as a reference to the age of 70 years.
(4) A member, other than a member who is a Judge, holds office on such terms
and conditions (if any) in respect of matters not provided for by this Act as
are determined by the Governor-General.
