PIPELINE AUTHORITY AMENDMENT ACT 1980 No. 109, 1980 - SECT 4

4. (1) Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended-

   (a)  by omitting paragraph (b) of sub-section (1) and substituting the
        following paragraph:



"(b) the Deputy Chairman;"; and

   (b)  by omitting sub-sections (2) and (3) and substituting the following
        sub-sections:



"(2) The members shall be appointed by the Governor- General, the Executive
Member being appointed as a full-time member and the other members being
appointed as part-time members.



"(3) Subject to sub-section (3A), a member shall be appointed for such period,
not exceeding 7 years, as the Governor-General specifies in the instrument of
his appointment, but is eligible for re-appointment.



"(3A) A person who has attained the age of 65 years shall not be appointed or
re-appointed as the Executive Member, and a person shall not be appointed or
re-appointed as the Executive Member for a period that extends beyond the date
on which he will attain the age of 65 years.".

(2) A person who, immediately before the commencement of this Act, held office
as a member of the Authority (being a person who was appointed by the
Governor-General) continues to hold office, subject to the Principal Act as
amended by this Act, for the remainder of his term of office.
