REFERENDUM (MACHINERY PROVISIONS) ACT 1984 No. 44, 1984 - SECT 27

27. (1) The Governor-General, or a person authorized by him to act under this
sub-section, may appoint one person to act as a scrutineer during voting at a
referendum at each place in Australia where voting is being conducted.

(2) The Governor of a State, or a person authorized by him to act under this
sub-section, may appoint one person to act as a scrutineer during the voting
at a referendum at each place in that State where voting is being conducted.

(3) The Administrator of the Northern Territory, or a person authorized by him
to act under this sub-section, may appoint one person to act as a scrutineer
during the voting at a referendum at each place in the Northern Territory
where voting is being conducted.
