STATES GRANTS (SCHOOLS ASSISTANCE) ACT 1984 No. 126 of 1984 - SECT 10

10. (1) The Minister shall not authorize payments to a State under sub-section
9 (1) that exceed, in the aggregate, the amount specified in column 7 of
Schedule 1 opposite to the name of the State.

(2) At any time, and from time to time, during the year 1985, but subject to
sub-section (3), the Minister may direct that this Act shall have effect as if
some or all of the amounts specified in column 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 of Schedule
1 opposite to the names of States were varied in accordance with the
direction, and, where the Minister gives a direction with respect to the
variation of those amounts, then, for the purposes of this Act (including this
section) there shall be deemed to have been specified in that Schedule, as
from the commencing day, in substitution for those amounts, those amounts as
so varied.

(3) A direction given under sub-section (2) shall not provide for a variation
of any amounts specified in column 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 of Schedule 1 in such a
way that, after the variation, the aggregate of the amounts specified in
column 7 opposite to the names of States is greater or less than the total
amount for all the States specified in that column.

(4) As soon as practicable after the Minister has given a direction under
sub-section (2), the Minister shall cause a statement setting out particulars
of the direction to be laid before each House of the Parliament.
