STATES GRANTS (PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) ACT 1996 No. 70, 1996 - SECT 55

(1) The object of this Part is to expand opportunities for students to learn
certain languages.

(2) This object is given effect by:

   (a)  providing funding to help schools and school systems to enhance and
        expand opportunities for students to learn Asian languages and take
        part in Asian studies; and

   (b)  providing support for the teaching of community languages to students
        enrolled in primary education or secondary education; and

   (c)  providing support for excellence and growth in the learning of
        priority languages in the course of receiving primary education or
        secondary education.
