STATES GRANTS (TERTIARY EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT (No. 2) 1979 No. 185, 1979 - SECT 25

Grants for recurrent expenditure in connection with programs of expenditure on voluntary adult education
25. Section 28 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting sub-sections (3)
and (4) and substituting the following sub-sections:

''(3) There is payable to a State specified in Schedule 13, for the purpose of
financial assistance in connection with programs of adult education to be
carried out in a year to which this Part applies in the State, the amount
specified in Schedule 13 in relation to the State and to that year.

''(4) Financial assistance is granted to a State under this section in respect
of a year to which this Part applies on the conditions that-

   (a)  the State will pay each amount of that financial assistance received
        by it to the approved authority of the State without undue delay;

   (b)  the State will ensure that the amount expended by the approved
        authority of the State in making contributions towards the recurrent
        expenditure of a relevant body, or of relevant bodies, in connection
        with the provision, in that year, by that body, or those bodies, of
        courses of adult education is not less than the sum of the amounts of
        financial assistance paid to the State under sub-section (3) in
        respect of that year; and

   (c)  the State will cause to be furnished to the Commission, not later than
        30 September next following the end of that year, a statement by an
        approved auditor in accordance with a form approved by the Commission,
        as to the expenditure of the approved authority of the State in making
        contributions towards the recurrent expenditure of a relevant body, or
        of relevant bodies, in connection with the provision, in that year, by
        that body, or those bodies, of courses of adult education.''.
