TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT 1997 No. 47 of 1997 - SECT 155

(1) The regulations may authorise the Minister to declare that 2 or more
carriers are to be national universal service providers.

(2) The regulations may also authorise the Minister to declare that this Act
has effect, in relation to any such declared provider, as if the universal
service obligation applicable to the provider were limited as set out in the
declaration. However, declarations may only be made in accordance with this
subsection for the purpose of dividing the universal service obligation
between 2 or more declared providers.

(3) A declaration made in accordance with this section has effect accordingly.

(4) The regulations may provide that this Part applies in relation to any such
declared providers subject to such modifications as are specified in the
regulations.

(5) In this section:
modifications includes additions, omissions and substitutions.
