TORRES STRAIT FISHERIES ACT 1984 NO. 23 OF 1984 - SECT. 12.
Issue of permits for scientific purposes
12. (1) The Minister may, in his discretion, grant a permit to a person
authorizing that person to engage, for scientific purposes, in such activities
by way of fishing in an area of Australian jurisdiction as are specified in
the permit.
(2) The holder of a permit in force under sub-section (1) or a person acting
on behalf of the holder of such a permit is not guilty of an offence against
this Act by reason of anything done by him that is authorized by the permit to
be done by the holder of the permit.
(3) A permit granted under sub-section (1) is subject to such conditions as
are specified in the permit.
(4) The Minister may, in his discretion, by notice in writing given to the
holder of a permit in force under this section-
(a) revoke the permit; or
(b) vary or revoke the conditions to which the permit is subject or
specify further conditions to which the permit is to be subject.
