WHEAT MARKETING AMENDMENT ACT 1986 No. 82 of 1986 - SECT 17

17. Section 34 of the Principal Act is amended-

   (a)  by inserting after sub-section (3) the following sub-sections:

"(4) Subject to sub-section (5), a person who has attained the age of 65 years
shall not be appointed as a member and a person shall not be appointed as a
member for a period that extends beyond the day on which the person will
attain the age of 65 years.

"(5) Sub-section (4) does not apply to the appointment of a person if the
Minister is satisfied that the person possesses special skills that the Board
requires for the performance of its functions.

"(5A) A person who is the President, or a member of the executive, of the
Australian Wheatgrowers' Federation shall not be appointed as a member.

"(5B) The place of a member of the Board becomes vacant if the member becomes
the President, or a member of the executive, of the Australian Wheatgrowers'
Federation."; and

   (b)  by inserting after sub-section (6) the following sub-section:

"(6A) The Chairperson holds office on such terms and conditions in respect of
matters not provided for by this Act as are determined in writing by the
Minister.".
