47. Regulation 161 (Reduction in rank of warrant officers and non-commissioned officers)
47.1 Omit the regulation, substitute: Reduction in rank

"161. (1) This regulation does not apply to a chaplain.

"(2) The Chief of the General Staff may, in writing, reduce a member's rank on
the ground of the member's inefficiency or unsuitability.

"(3) If the Chief of the General Staff proposes to reduce a member's rank, he
or she must:

   (a)  inform the member in writing of the proposal; and

   (b)  give the member a reasonable opportunity to show cause why the
        member's rank should not be reduced.

"(4) The Chief of the General Staff may cancel a reduction in rank.

"(5) If a reduction in rank is cancelled, the member to whom the reduction
applied is restored to the rank that he or she held immediately before the
reduction was made.".
