1988 NO. 158 CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS - REG 82

Equipment of Australian aircraft with radio systems
82. (1) An Australian aircraft engaged in a regular public transport service,
and such other Australian aircraft as the Authority directs, shall be equipped
with such radio systems as the Authority approves for the purpose.

(2) In approving a radio system for the purposes of subregulation (1), the
Authority shall have regard to:

   (a)  the suitability and efficiency of the system for use in conjunction
        with the air route and airway facilities provided in pursuance of Part
        IX; and

   (b)  in the case of a system installed, or to be installed, in an aircraft
        engaged in international air navigation-the suitability and efficiency
        of the system in the conditions in which it is likely to be used.

(3) The Authority may, subject to such conditions as the Authority considers
necessary, exempt an aircraft (other than an aircraft engaged in an
international public transport service) from any requirement of this
regulation.
