ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION REGULATIONS 2000 2000 NO. 181 - REG 19.01

Allowances for witnesses
(1)
This regulation sets out the allowances for travelling and other expenses that a person summoned by a commissioner to appear as a witness at an inquiry is entitled to be paid by the Commonwealth.

(2)
For subsection 111 (4) of the Act, a person is entitled to be paid:

(a)
reasonable expenses for travelling to and from the place where the person is required to attend; and

(b)
if the person is required to be absent overnight from his or her usual place of residence — reasonable expenses for meals and accommodation; and

(c)
if expenses are payable to a person for being a witness — expenses in accordance with the Second Schedule of the High Court Rules 1952 .
