Communities Combating Pests and Weed Impacts During Drought

To fund local councils or consortia of local councils to employ people to undertake pest and weed management activities in drought-affected areas.

This objective also has the effect it would have if it were limited to measures:

(a) in connection with quarantine; or

(b) to give effect to Australia's obligations under the following:

(i) the Convention on Biological Diversity, particularly Article 8(h);

(ii) the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa, particularly Article 5; or

(c) provided by way of grants of financial assistance to States and Territories; or

(d) peculiarly adapted to the government of a nation and that cannot otherwise be carried on for the benefit of the nation; or

(e) undertaken in, or in relation to, a Territory.
