1984 No. 425 FAMILY LAW RULES - ORDER 10 RULE 1

1. Where an application under Order 7, Division 2 is served on the respondent,
the respondent has the following time in which to file an answer, or answer
under protest, to the application:

   (a)  if the respondent is served in Australia-28 days; or

   (b)  if the respondent is served outside Australia-42 days, after the day
        on which the application is served on him.
