1984 No. 425 FAMILY LAW RULES - ORDER 23 RULE 4

4. (1) An application under section 65 of the Act in respect of a child may be
heard and determined by the court notwithstanding that a next friend has not
been appointed for the child.

(2) Where the court orders that a child be separately represented in
accordance with section 65 of the Act, it may request that the representation
be arranged by the Australian Legal Aid Office, or by a legal aid body that is
a relevant authority under section 116C of the Act.
