FISHERIES MANAGEMENT (BASS STRAIT CENTRAL ZONE SCALLOP FISHERY) REGULATIONS 2002 2002 No. 283 - REG 9

Directions by AFMA

For the purposes of subsection 23 (2) of the Management Plan, the requirements are:
(a) at all times:

(i)
at least 1 bed of scallops in the eastern part of the fishery; and
(ii)
at least 1 bed of scallops in the western part of the fishery;
must be closed; and

(b)
fishing must be prohibited in a bed of scallops if the proportion of commercial scallops ( Pecten fumatus ) in the bed that are smaller than the minimum shell length mentioned in Schedule 2 to the Management Plan for that species is greater than 20%.
