1996 No. 120 FINANCE REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 4

4.1 Paragraph 74 (1) (i): Omit "and".

4.2 After paragraph 74 (1) (i), insert:

"(ia) an advance to a legal service provider to enable the legal service
provider to make payments on behalf of the Commonwealth in connection with any
legal matter in which the Commonwealth is involved;".

4.3 Subregulation 74 (2): Omit "paragraph (j)", substitute "paragraph (ia) or
(j)".

4.4 Subregulation 74 (4): Omit "paragraph (j)", substitute "paragraph (ia) or
(j)".

4.5 Add at the end:

"(5) In paragraph (1) (ia):
'legal service provider' means:

   (a)  an officer of the Attorney General's Department; or

   (b)  a legal practitioner other than an officer of the Attorney General's
        Department;
'legal matter' includes any:

   (a)  proceedings before a court, board, commission or tribunal; and

   (b)  claim for damages or compensation; and

   (c)  conveyance or property settlement; and

   (d)  claim for legal costs, fees or expenses; and

   (e)  other law related services.".
