1983 No. 262 GREAT BARRIER REEF MARINE PARK REGULATIONS - REG 18

Offences relating to spearfishing
18. (1) A person shall not-

   (a)  in the Capricornia Section; or

   (b)  in a part of the Marine Park in respect of which a zoning plan is not
        in force, use for the purpose of spearfishing-

   (c)  an underwater breathing apparatus other than a snorkel; or

   (d)  a power-head.
Penalty: $1,000.

(2) Sub-regulation (1) does not apply where a person uses a power-head for the
purpose of protecting himself or other persons from attack by shark.
(3) In this regulation, "power-head" means a device by means of which a fish
may be taken, being a device that may be attached to a spear and that consists
of or contains an explosive charge.
