1990 No. 287 NAVAL FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 1

Regulation 244 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended:

   (a)  by omitting subregulation (1) and substituting the following
        subregulations:
``(1) The Commonwealth must provide the medical and dental treatment required
to keep a member healthy for the purpose of discharging his or her duties.
``(1A) The Minister may determine the conditions on which the treatment is to
be provided to a member in the light of:

   (a)  the facilities available under the circumstances (including the place
        where the member is serving); and

   (b)  the role of the member; and

   (c)  the operational requirements of the Defence Force.";

   (b)  by omitting from subregulations (3), (4) and (5) ``of the Navy"
        (wherever occurring); '' NAME="medical_treatment"> (c) by omitting
        from subregulation (7) the definition of ``medical treatment" and
        substituting the following definitions:
`` `medical treatment' includes:

   (a)  the giving of advice, treatment, supplies or appliances by or on the
        authority of a medical officer or medical practitioner; and;

   (b)  transport in an ambulance; and

   (c)  maintenance and accommodation at a hospital or other health care
        facility;
`member' means a member rendering continuous full time service;". ''PRE>
