1984 No. 250 NATIONAL GALLERY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 2

Entry charges
2. Regulation 4 of the National Gallery Regulations is amended-

   (a)  by omitting sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following
        sub-regulation:



"(1) Subject to this regulation, a charge of $2.00 is fixed for entry by a
person other than a prescribed person into the exhibition areas during opening
hours.";

   (b)  by omitting from sub-paragraph (2) (c) (i) "or an allowance payable
        under Part VIIA," and substituting "an allowance payable under Part
        VIIA, or a rehabilitation allowance payable under Part VIII,";

   (c)  by omitting paragraph (2) (e) and substituting the following
        paragraph:



"(e) a person who is a member of-

        (i)    the Australian National Gallery Association;

        (ii)   the Art Museums Association of Australia;

        (iii)  the Museums Education Association of Australia;

        (iv)   the Museums Association of Australia;

        (v)    the International Council of Museums;

        (vi)   the Institute for Conservation of Cultural Material;

        (vii)  the Arts Libraries Association (Australia and New Zealand); or

        (viii) the Arts Association of Australia.";

   (d)  by omitting sub-regulations (3) and (4) and substituting the following
        sub-regulations:



"(3) Subject to sub-regulation (4)-

   (a)  the Gallery may sell tickets for admission to the exhibition areas for
        $1.70 each; and

   (b)  the surrender of such a ticket on a day shall entitle a person to
        entry to the exhibition areas during opening hours on that day without
        further payment.



"(4) The number of tickets of the kind referred to in sub-regulation (3) that
may be sold to a person on any one occasion shall be not less than 100.



"(5) Where a person is the holder of a ticket issued by the Gallery that
entitles him to attend a lecture or other educational or cultural presentation
in the exhibition areas commencing during opening hours on a day, the charge
fixed by sub-regulation (1) is not payable in respect of the entry by that
person into the exhibition areas during opening hours on that day.



"(6) A person who has been admitted to the exhibition areas during opening
hours on a day may-

   (a)  on leaving the exhibition areas, obtain a pass issued by authority of
        the Council for the purposes of this sub-regulation; and

   (b)  on surrender of that pass, be re-admitted without further payment to
        the exhibition areas during opening hours on that day.



"(7) Nothing in this regulation shall be taken to require the payment of any
charge in respect of the entry by any person into any part of the Gallery
building at the invitation of the Gallery or for purposes connected with the
operation of the Gallery, the maintenance of the national collection, the
maintenance, renovation, reconstruction or extension of the Gallery building
or the provision of services to the Gallery.".
