Basic fees

Witness appearing before the Committee to give evidence because of his or her professional, scientific or other special skill or knowledge

A fee, for each day on which the witness appears, equal to the amount specified in item 49 of Schedule 2 to the High Court Rules 2004 .

Witness appearing before the Committee other than a witness described in item 1

A fee, for each day on which the witness appears, equal to the amount specified in item 50 of Schedule 2 to the High Court Rules 2004 .

                Additional amounts

Witness appearing before the Committee who is remunerated by wages, salary or fees

In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2, an amount equal to the amount lost by the witness because of the appearance before the Committee.

Witness appearing before the Committee to give skilled evidence

In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2, an amount that the Chair or Deputy Chair considers reasonable for qualifying to give that evidence.

Witness appearing before the Committee

In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2:

   (a)  an amount that the Chair or Deputy Chair considers reasonable for travel by the witness to and from the place at which he or she appears before the Committee; and

   (b)  if the witness is required to be absent overnight from his or her usual place of residence — an amount that the Chair or Deputy Chair considers reasonable for meals and accommodation.
