- (1)
- A quarantine officer may give, to a person who travels to a place in
Australia or the Cocos Islands on an overseas vessel or overseas installation,
a notice requesting the person to tell a quarantine officer at the port where
the person disembarks, the address in Australia or the Cocos Islands where the
person intends to stay immediately after disembarkation.
- (2)
- The person
must comply with the notice within the period stated in it.
Penalty:
30
penalty units.
- (3)
- A quarantine officer may give, to a person who travels to
a place in Australia or the Cocos Islands on an overseas vessel or overseas
installation, a notice requesting the person to tell a quarantine officer at
the port where the person disembarks, the person's new address each time the
person's address changes during the period ending 14 days after the later of:
- (a)
- when the person is given the notice; and
- (b)
- when the person disembarks from the vessel or installation.
- (4)
- The person must comply with the notice, in respect of each change, within
the period after the change stated in the notice.
Penalty:
30 penalty units.
- (5)
- Strict liability, within the meaning of section 6.1 of the Criminal Code ,
applies to an offence against subregulation (2) or (4).
