RENEWABLE ENERGY (ELECTRICITY) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2002 (NO. 2) 2002 NO. 232 - SCHEDULE 1

Amendments taken to have commenced on 1 July 2002

(regulation 3)

[1] Subregulation 3 (1), before definition of Act

insert

"accredited body" means a body accredited under the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand to give product certification or component certification of solar water heaters.

[2] Subregulation 3 (1), before definition of interconnected hydro-electric system

insert

heat pump water heater means a solar water heater that:

(a)
consists of a heat pump with an air source evaporator, and a condenser that delivers heat to a hot water storage container; and

(b)
collects ambient energy from latent and sensible heat in the atmosphere; and

(c)
delivers potable water.

[3] Subregulation 3 (1), after definition of plantation

insert

"product certification", of a solar water heater, means certification by an accredited body in relation to the design and manufacture of the solar water heater.

[4] Subregulation 3 (4)

substitute

(4) Until 31 December 2002, a heat pump water heater is taken to comply with paragraph (3) (b) if the manufacturer of the heat pump water heater satisfies the Regulator that:

(a)
the manufacturer has applied for product certification to Australian Standard 2712-1993, as in force on 1 January 2001, of the heat pump water heater; and

(b)
certification has not been refused; and

(c)
the manufacturer has calculated the amount of non-renewable electricity that will be displaced by the heat pump water heater.
