1996 No. 310 RADIOCOMMUNICATIONS STANDARD (406 MHZ SATELLITE DISTRESS BEACONS) No. 1 of 1996 - REG 2

Definitions
2. In this Standard:

"406 MHz satellite distress beacon" means a device that:
(a) is known as a "satellite emergency position indicating radio
beacon" or a "satellite personal locator beacon"; and

   (b)  is capable of being operated on the carrier frequency 406.025 MHz; and

   (c)  incorporates a homing transmitter the emissions of which are intended
        to facilitate search and rescue operations;

"homing transmitter" means an auxiliary homing transmitter that is capable of
being operated on:

   (a)  the carrier frequency 121.5 MHz; or

   (b)  the carrier frequency 243 MHz; or

   (c)  the carrier frequencies of 121.5 MHz and 243 MHz;

"the Act" means the Radiocommunications Act 1992.
