ROAD TRANSPORT REFORM (DANGEROUS GOODS) REGULATIONS 1997 No. 241 - REG 7.10
Driver's duties
7.10 (1) A person must not drive a vehicle transporting dangerous goods by
road if the person knows, or reasonably ought to know, that:
(a) the goods are a placard load; and
(b) the load is not appropriately placarded. Penalty: $3,000
(2) A person must not drive a vehicle transporting a placard load of dangerous
goods by road if the person knows, or reasonably ought to know, that the
placarding of the load is false or misleading in a material particular.
Penalty: $3,000
(3) A person must not drive a vehicle transporting goods by road in a load if
the person knows, or reasonably ought to know, that the load does not contain
dangerous goods but is placarded as if it were a placard load. Penalty: $3,000
[Note: The design, construction, strength and roadworthiness of heavy vehicles
is dealt with in the Road Transport Reform (Heavy Vehicles Standards)
Regulations. There are penalties for failure to comply with those
Regulations.]
