Fisheries Levy (East Coast Tuna Purse Seine Fishery) Regulations (Amendment)
Paragraph 5(b) of the Act provides for the imposition of levy on an endorsement under subsection 9(4) of the Fisheries Act 1952 of a licence granted under subsections 9(2) or 9(3) of that Act.
The management arrangements for the east coast tuna fishery provides for the allocation of endorsements to persons in the fishery. Persons are only permitted access to the fishery when levy has been paid.
The Regulation specifies the amount of levy in respect to each class of endorsement in the fishery for the 1992/93 season.
The levy does not include the research levy administered by the Research and Development Corporation.
Rates of levy for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5 of Fisheries Notice TEC 7 have increased as follows:
• for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5(a), from $2000 to $2500;
• for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5(b), from $1000 to $1600.
Rates of levy for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5 of Fisheries Notice TEC 9 have decreased by about 25 per cent as follows:
• for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5(a), from $2000 to $1500;
• for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5(b), from $1000 to $8251
• for endorsements of the kind referred to in paragraph 5(c), from $1000 to $825.
