Clause 1 Crimes Amendment (Grievous Bodily Harm) Bill 2010 The Legislature of New South Wales enacts: 1 1 Name of Act 2 This Act is the Crimes Amendment (Grievous Bodily Harm) Act 2010. 3 2 Commencement 4 This Act commences on the date of assent. 5 3 Amendment of Crimes Act 1900 No 40 6 (1) Section 4 Definitions 7 Omit paragraph (a) of the definition of Grievous bodily harm from 8 section 4 (1). 9 Insert instead: 10 (a) the destruction (other than in the course of a medical 11 procedure) of a child in utero of a pregnant woman, 12 whether or not the woman suffers any other harm, 13 and 14 (2) Section 4 (1), definition of "Grievous bodily harm" 15 Insert at the end of the definition: 16 For the purposes of paragraph (a) of this definition, a child 17 in utero is any form of human life in either the embryonic 18 or foetal stage of development. 19 Page 2
