An Act to amend the City of Sydney Act 1988 to remove special provisions that apply to elections
for the Council of the City of Sydney; to dissolve the Central Sydney Traffic and Transport
Committee and remove provisions relating to the Committee; and for related purposes.
I have examined this bill and find it to correspond in all respects with the bill as finally
passed by both Houses.

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts--
1 Name of Act
This Act is the City of Sydney Amendment Act 2023.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on the date of assent to this Act.

1.2 Amendments relating to Central Sydney Traffic and Transport
Committee
[1] Long title
Omit "to establish a Central Sydney Traffic and Transport Committee for the Sydney
Central Business District;".

Omit the heading. Insert instead--

1.3 Transitional amendment

Part 11 Provision consequent on enactment of City of
Sydney Amendment Act 2023
35 Ordinary election laws to apply to council elections
(1) To avoid doubt, on the commencement of the City of Sydney Amendment Act
2023, the Local Government Act 1993 applies to elections for the City
Council.
(2) Subclause (1) does not affect the operation of the Act, Part 3, Division 3.
36 Dissolution of Central Sydney Traffic and Transport Committee
(1) The Central Sydney Traffic and Transport Committee is dissolved.
(2) The persons who were members of the Committee immediately before the
Committee's dissolution cease to be members.
(3) No compensation is payable for a loss of office under this clause.
37 Sydney Central Business District
To avoid doubt, the reference in the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire
Vehicles) Regulation 2017 to the Sydney Central Business District within the
meaning of this Act is, on the commencement of the City of Sydney
Amendment Act 2023, taken to be a reference to that term as in force
immediately before the commencement.
