Road Transport Legislation Amendment (Speed Camera Detection) Bill 2024 [NSW] The Legislature of New South Wales enacts-- 1 Name of Act This Act is the Road Transport Legislation Amendment (Speed Camera Detection) Act 2024. 2 Commencement This Act commences on the date of assent to this Act. Page 2 Road Transport Legislation Amendment (Speed Camera Detection) Bill 2024 [NSW] Schedule 1 Amendment of Road Transport Act 2013 No 18 Schedule 1 Amendment of Road Transport Act 2013 No 18 [1] Section 127 Definitions Omit "heavy" wherever occurring in the definitions of detection points, journey time and shortest practicable distance. [2] Section 128 When Division may be relied on Omit "heavy". [3] Section 129 Evidence and other matters that may be relied on Omit "heavy" wherever occurring. [4] Section 130 How average speed is to be calculated Omit "heavy". [5] Section 131 How average speed limit is to be calculated Omit "heavy". [8] Section 133A Insert after section 133-- 133A Review of use of division in relation to light vehicles (1) The Minister must ensure a review is conducted of the use of this division in relation to light vehicles. (2) The review must consider-- (a) road safety outcomes from the use of this division in relation to light vehicles, including the following-- (i) the number of speeding offences involving light vehicles and the trends in the commission of the offences, (ii) the impact on speeding by drivers of light vehicles, (iii) the average speed of light vehicles, (iv) the estimated impact on crashes and other trauma involving light vehicles, and (b) the cost of using this division in relation to light vehicles. (3) The review must be undertaken as soon as possible after the period of 18 months from the commencement of this section. (4) A report on the outcome of the review must be tabled in each House of Parliament within 6 months after the end of the period of 18 months.
