Preventing dog from escaping
12A Preventing dog from escaping
(1) The owner of a dog must take all reasonable precautions to prevent the dog
from escaping from the property on which it is being kept. : Maximum penalty--
(a) 8 penalty units except in the case of a dangerous, menacing or
restricted dog, or
(b) 50 penalty units in the case of a dangerous, menacing
or restricted dog.
(1A) The regulations may, for the purposes of this
section, specify what constitutes or does not constitute reasonable
precautions to prevent a dog from escaping.
(2) For the purposes of
subsection (1),
"owner" of a dog includes the person who is for the time being in charge of
the dog.
