Requirement to state name and address
135 Requirement to state name and address
(1) An authorised officer may require a person whom the authorised officer
suspects on reasonable grounds to have committed, or to be committing, an
offence against this Act or the regulations to state his or her full name and
residential address.
(2) An authorised officer may request a person who is
required under this section to state his or her full name and residential
address to provide proof of the name and address. It is not an offence to fail
to comply with any such request.
(3) A person does not commit an offence
under section 137 in respect of a requirement made under this section if-- (a)
the authorised officer does not, at the time when the officer makes the
requirement, show the person the officer's identification card, or
(b) the
authorised officer does not, at the time when the officer makes the
requirement, warn the person that it would be an offence not to comply with
the requirement.
